JBL ES30CH 3-Way, 6 1/2″ Bookshelf Speaker – Cherry (Pair) Reviewed

I was use to Advent Mini Towers mated to a Denon Integrated amp @ 50 watts/ channel. My equipment was vintage 1989. I bought the JBL E30 speakers because they are JBL’s. JBL makes really good speakers that handle a lot of power – 125 watts max. I put them on 19″ stands(tweeter is at 34.25″from the floor). I already owned a 200 watt 10″ Yamaha sub woofer. Combined with the JBL E30’s the sound is clear well defined with deep wonderfull base from the sub woofer.

Yesterday I ordered a Yamaha RX 797 receiver at-100 watts/channel. It has a seperate audio out to the sub woofer. Speaker groups A&B will be used to bi wire the JBLs. What this does is to run speaker group A wire to the tweeter and mid range and speaker group B will run direct to the 6″ woofer. No loss of tone due to cross over wiring in the speaker. This is outstanding! This is very close to what the recording artist wanted you to hear. Go to [...] and see that they a large proud speaker company. I first listened to JBLs in the 1970’s. It’s a real kick to own a pair in 2009. They still are “basie”, and you can turn them up(that is clssic JBL).The Es30s are ported on the back side. Put them closer to the wall and base increases. The cabinet is shaped, wider in front than in the back and it is a 3 speaker system. JBL has done a really fine job in a 15″x 8.75″ bookshelf speaker. The sound is really good to near outstanding.Of course everybody will have differing opinions. The JBL ES30 Frequency response is 50Hz -40KHz(my subis 40KHZ-140KHz). Another speaker company I was looking at had two way speaker system at 50HZ-23KHz. You can see the ES30 is seamless when matched to my sub woofer. The dynamic range is vast > real good sounding. Bi wiring & out let to sub woofer gives three frequency zone to four speakers> clear,crisp sound.

These over size “book shelve” speakers are great reproducing clear, crispy and awesome sound. Very well finished and heavies pair of beauties.
Good matching with other JBL speakers that I got earlier and a DENON receiver.
